About the Artist
M. Ann Lynch was born in Cincinnati, Ohio where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Cincinnati, School of Design, Art & Architecture in 1972. Her focus centered on graphic design and her work continues to reflect that early influence, most noticeably by her strong use of color and space. After graduation she continued to expand as an artist by attending the New York Art Students League, NY as well as studying under artists such as; Jeanne Dobie, Millard Wells, Frederic Wong, Tony Couch, Albert Handel, Carl Dalio, Don Andrews, Gerald Brommer, William B. Lawrence and Carlton Plummer. She has been listed in Who’s Who of American Women.
M. Ann Lynch moved to the Florida Keys in 1984. Living amongst the native vegetation has brightened her palette considerably, by infusing her paintings with a rich, vibrant flavor and texture. She is particularly attracted to the high contrast of light when reflected in many scenes. The natural beauty of the Keys has become a recurring subject for her stunning watercolors.
Through the years her love of painting has been enhanced by her second love, travel. She has traveled extensively throughout Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Africa as well as the United States. With a camera as her constant companion, she has been able to capture her experiences on film and then translate those images into paintings.
M. Ann Lynch has been a member of the Florida Keys Watercolor Society since the early 80’s and has received several ribbons for her entries in their annual juried show. She was a board member serving in various capacities for 22 years as well as serving as their President from 2004 -2007. She is a Signature member of FWS as her work has been included in the 2001, 2004 and 2008 Florida Watercolor Society Exhibitions, the largest state watercolor society in the country. The FWS Judge selects around 100 paintings from around 1000 entries across the state. Her art work has been shown in galleries in Ohio and Florida as well as included in many private collections across the country. Currently her work is exhibited at the Shady Palm Art Gallery in Marathon, Piper Art Gallery in Pompano Beach, Florid as well as various Marathon Florida business locations.
